Creatively Daring

A few weeks ago we started the process of trademarking “Creatively Driven.” We hired a lawyer and quickly ran into a snag. We found other companies with very similar names, in the same line of business; which would make it difficult to file.

After a brief panic, we decided to just change the name to make filing as smooth as possible and increase our chances of being granted the trademark.

Choosing the new name was hard. We went back to the drawing board and looked at all our favorite synonyms. We were still very attached to the word “creatively” and we needed a word that had a similar feeling as “driven:” something that is motivating, bold, decisive, and a little fearless. We tried many combinations and nothing seemed to have the same ring to it.

Finally, the word “daring” came up and we knew that was the one. It spoke to a theme of courage that we continue to feel when traveling through our lives and business journey. It also spoke to the empowerment we hope to give people when they work with us on developing their brand or use our guides to do it themselves.

We had hoped transferring all the pages, files, posts, etc. over from to would be as easy as moving it with FTP, but no. It wasn’t that easy. We recommend if you ever have to do this yourself, just hire a developer to do it the right way. We had a hard time transferring and  definitely did NOT do it the right way. Essentially we’re re-doing all the pages, posts and such in the same styles as creatively-driven.

We’ve got some of the major pages up, but still have a lot to do. The site will be a continual work in progress for a while, and will be a constant evolution.

Our business goals for this year are small because we don’t have a lot of time to spare while planning the wedding. Here’s what we have:

  • Add back all the pages that I had on my last site.
  • Finish my #100donutchallenge and sell the prints.
  • Finish the guide book on mood boarding.
  • Re-publish the best articles from the past and re-direct traffic to the new site
